Schumann resonance frequency: a bridge between science and spirituality

In the ever-changing world of science and spirituality, few concepts have attracted as much interest as Schumann Resonance Frequency.

This phenomenon, which links earth physics to our human experience, lies at the crossroads of scientific understanding and spiritual practice.

In this article, we will explore the nature of the Schumann Resonance Frequency, its intriguing history, how it may vary, the meanings of its changes, what is the current Schumann resonance frequency and its link with Daimoku Mantra Meditation.

What is the Schumann resonance frequency?

The Schumann resonance frequency refers to a series of peaks in the electromagnetic frequencies of the Earth's field.

These frequencies, which oscillate mainly around 7.83 Hz, were discovered in the 1950s by German physicist Winfried Otto Schumann.

Interestingly, these resonances occur in the space between the Earth's surface and the ionosphere, acting as a kind of natural reverberation chamber.

The significance of these frequencies goes beyond mere scientific curiosity. The Schumann resonance frequency is believed to have a direct impact on human psychophysical well-being.

Some research suggests that our brains naturally synchronize with these frequencies, thus influencing our circadian rhythms, psychological well-being and our ability to enter deep meditative states.

Historical background and trivia

The discovery of the Schumann resonance frequency was revolutionary in the field of geophysics and atmospheric physics.

Winfried Schumann, while developing theories on atmospheric electricity, came across these resonances almost by accident. Over the years, this phenomenon has aroused interest not only in the scientific community, but also among those who seek a connection between science and spirituality.

A fascinating curiosity is that the base frequency of 7.83 Hz correlates closely with human states of consciousness. In particular, this frequency is similar to states of deep relaxation and meditation, which are often associated with alpha and theta brain waves.

This has opened an interesting debate about the possible influence of the Earth on our psyche and spiritual health.

The Schuhmann frequency and our coherent brain

Schumann resonances are magnetic waves that are traveling around the surface of the Earth. Bouncing back and forth between the surface of the Earth and the bottom of what's called the ionosphere. If you're not familiar with that, think of it as a big soap bubble around the planet. There are eight Schumann resonances but 7.83 Hertz is considered the fundamental Schumann resonance.

Their fundamental resonant frequency is 7.83 Hz. This means our atmosphere is constantly vibrating at a radio frequency of 7.83 Hz. It´s a repeating atmospheric heartbeat that is also known as the earth´s vibration.

What is the current Schumann resonance frequency?

Research stations around the world continue to collect real-time data on these frequencies, using sophisticated techniques to analyze and interpret.

The Schumann resonance frequency is the natural resonant frequency of the planet itself and it matches that of human consciousness at the border between the brainwave state of alpha and theta at 7.8 Hertz. The transition between the alpha state and the theta state is considered to be the neurobiological basis for the so-called “flow state”.

This means that the Schuhmann frequency of 7.83 Hz happens to correlate with the brain when it is in a coherent “flow state”.

And this is also exactly the frequency that healers get into when they are in the healing space. When a qigong master sends energy, then he goes up to the brainwave frequency of 7.8 hertz.

Part of the healing effect is to be in synchronistic resonance with the frequency of the earth and that is when healing takes place. Auditory beat simulation also shows promising results for treating anxiety by getting the brain into the Theta frequency range (4-7 Hz). This brain state has been shown to promote a feeling of overall well-being.

The discussion of Schumann resonance frequency in the context of meditation is especially relevant to those interested in the intersection of science and spirituality. Reasons include potential alignment with the Earth's natural rhythms, influence on human biological rhythms, research on the connections between these frequencies and the coherence of the heart, and enrichment of the meditative experience.

Schumann resonance frequency and Daimoku Mantra Meditation

When we chant Daimoku, we can also get into this state. When you look at the measurement result that we showed in our book Change your brainwaves- change your karma - Nichiren Buddhism 3.1  (see below the picture “before and after chanting”) you will notice that after chanting Daimoku for ten minutes, we reached a state of deep coherence in the theta brain waves range, between 4 and 8 Hertz.

Brainwaves before and after chanting daimoku.

What is really stunning here is that our hearts and our brains are vibrating at the same frequency as the Earth´s two primary energetic systems when we are chanting Daimoku. And remember: two systems that vibrate at the same frequency exchange energy and information.
